When I was 8 or 9 years old or so, my Dad gave me a Vivitar 110 for Christmas. Dad was a photography buff, and had a darkroom at a friends house in the bathroom back in the early 70s. He won some local photography competitions with portraits of his family that he made on his trusty Minolta SRT-101. I loved my little camera, and made countless terrible photos with it.
I upgraded to a Canon T-70 while in high school and on the year book staff (woo-hoo!). I moved up to a Minolta X-700 (second hand from Dad) in college while studying fine art photography back in the days of FILM and DARKROOMS. I loved the quiet meditation of the darkroom. I also loved the noise and chaos of playing in a rock band. Noise and chaos won the battle (temporarily), and I dropped out of school to play music. Just imagine my parents’ joy and delight!
Several year later, I returned to school—this time to earn a degree in classical music. I have been a musician and music teacher for many years now, but my interest in photography has only grown. I am so amazed at what the digital technology is able to accomplish now—it’s a similar-but-very-different art than it was “back in the day”.
Although the tech (and times) have changed, it’s still very hard to get a GOOD photograph. Capturing small moments and expressions is still tricky, and I love the challenge of trying to get it right in an artistic or expressive way.
Perhaps due to my old-guy background making prints in a darkroom, I strive to emphasize the printed image in my business. I think that PRINTS are what will last and be treasured for multi generations, not .jpg files on a thumb drive in a drawer. Please give consideration to printing your photographs. I’d love to help you in that endeavor.
Give me a call, or send an email. I look forward to meeting you and working together.
If you’d like to know more, or if you’re wondering WHY I think you need a wedding album, you can….
